Welcome to the Materials for High-Temperature and Corrosive Environment research website at the Aerospace and Ocean Engineering Department at the Virginia Tech. Our research efforts are focused in the rapid exploitation and introduction of new materials systems as well as understanding and controlling the microstructural features of materials during novel manufacturing processes through the integrated computational materials engineering approach (ICME). In particular, the most recent research focus is to develop the understanding of the environmentally assisted cracking and degradation/failure of alloys including additive manufactured (3D printing) and multi-principle element alloys via integrated multiscale and multiphysics simulations and experiments.
